The Thompson family owns and operates a cattle ranch in the panhandle of Texas. For generations, the Thompson's have been ranchers in Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Arizona as well as Texas, where Lane and Susi currently operate a ranch in the vicinity of Amarillo, Texas. Red Mud Barbecue Sauce came into existence because of Lane's passion for smoking meat in his own custom made smokers. He was not satisfied with what was offered from off the shelf, so he began to experiment in the kitchen, and after extensive experimentation came up with his own sauce. He named his sauce after the Red Mud Creek, with its distinctive muddy, red waters which runs through the ranch. Everyone who had the good fortune of eating at a Thompson Family Barbecue raved about the barbecue sauce and wanted to take a bottle home. Local restaurants also heard about Lane's barbecue sauce, and made inquiries about purchasing it in large quantities. Now you can also enjoy the fabulous flavor of this outstanding barbecue sauce in your own backyard. While the Thompson's don't produce smokers, Lane could be persuaded to custom build one for the right person.
